The 2010 Australian Haidong Gumdo Nationals tournament will be held in Brisbane on 20-21 November.  The nationals tournament is sponsored by the Australian Haidong Gumdo Association headquartered here in Brisbane under the guidance of Master Jung Il Oh.  There will be competitors from Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra and also New Zealand.  The competition consists of sword pattern, sparring choreography, paper cutting and bamboo cutting and also features a demonstration from our most hightly skilled Haidong Gumdo practitioners.  We are also looking forward to seeing Grand Master Lee here again.   Master Lee is from the World Haidong Gumdo Federation Headquarters in South Korea and it is always a great honour to have him attend our Nationals tournament. 

Swordsmen has added MIXED FIGHTING ARTS at the Browns Plains location.  This is a judo-based style which also includes sparring techniques from Karate, Taekwondo and Jujitsu.  Check out Mixed Fighting Arts  Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and also Sunday morning at 08:30.

The Australian Haidong Gumdo Team has returned from the  2010 Haidong Gumdo World Championships with the Best Association Award.  This is the highest level award and the whole Australian Team, Masters, Instructors, students and family all worked together to achieve this honour.  The competition went quite well for everyone and especially those who made it the final rounds.  Jared Keam from Swordsmen Martial Arts won a bronze in Bamboo Cutting.  Other finalists were the Australian Group Gumbop Team, Matthew Wall from Southern Cross in Brisbane, Silver, Bamboo Cutting; Christopher Kim from Canberra; James Whittering from Mudo, Gold Coast;   and several others.  The Australian team is headed by the Australian Haidong Gumdo Association president, Master Jung Il Oh.

NEW CENTRE OPEN AT BROWN'S PLAINS, 13 APRIL 2010.   Our beautiful new Swordsmen Centre in now open at Brown's Plains.  We are located just off of Johnson Rd in the Central Court shops, look for the Swordsmen Martial Arts banner.  This centre features brand new mats and a prime location close to the Grand Plaza shopping.  We are offering Haidong Gumdo and Taekwondo classes plus Pilates style fitness classes.  Please see locations page for times.
